WTK info on buying a older Puma 92

Post by guy-epic »

Ok newbie here so sorry for my poor and likely stupid questions but I don't know anything about these. I am looking at a Puma that is pre safety in what looks to be excellent condition fit and finish. It is a .357 /.38 with a flip up rear sight that was added on. I have poked around the sight and it looks like the new ones are hit or miss. What should I be looking for on a older one? The Puma medallions are great shoots straight I am looking to get into cowboy action shooting. Thanks sorry no pics yet and price is $350 plus ammo brings it to $400

If you have shot it and it cycles your ammo fodder of choice and she looks straight and shoots straight then I would buy that right now for 400 with ammo and if you don't let me know if your in ohio cause I will buy it I just got my federal return back so a deal like that I will not. hesitate as I can even sell later and get my money back. Keep us posted. Also welcome to the forum. Never a dumb qeustion here ask away. Well maybe if you ask if earth is flat then maybe.

Check it ! then Grab it !
If I was going to buy another Rossi 92 it'd be a pre-safety PUMA.
I wouldn't touch a BrazTech R92 with a ten foot pole.........compared them side by side with my LSI/PUMA era M92s & the difference in machining & fit/finish was for lack of a better word....profound.
Seems like LSI insisted on a certain minimum "red line" in quality.
Maybe that's why BrazTech was so eager to cancel the LSI contract when they took control of Rossi.
PUMA rifles are still made for LSI by Chiappa (an Italian firm).
I own a Chiappa 92.
They have beautiful walnut stocks & the NIB quality is excellent.

You should probably just give the guy $500 to keep your conscience clear... ;)

$400 is a steal... grab it now!

I just paid $600 for a half-octagon, crescent stock, 24", pre-safety Puma in 45 Colt.

I stole it from the fool for $400 he didn't even see it coming. Actually it is a good friend and I am sure we are both happy and I will sleep just fine tonight. Plus I have a used leather jacket I may sale if he doesn't pick it up soon.
