When I did the Tru-oil stock finishes on my M92s I used my 60+ year old Winchester 94s as a colour template.

I'm afraid I like mine to look new.
I'm going to have to take that goofy BROWNING sticker off the barrel of my BLR TD .308 and take it to the range sometime soon.

I usually put a coat or three of car wax on my blued guns to help prevent speckling, rust, fingerprints and skin salt from fading the finish. Seemed to work when I was in the humid South. Even better here in the desert.

I don't worry so much about the stainless guns and one of the reasons I picked up the stainless 92 Rossi .44 was as a knock about gun. I'd have done the same with the .357 but nobody had the 20" at all so I jumped on the first one I saw, which happened to be blue, with my preferred dealer's blessing. (Shipping a gun in CA is a royal PITA) About a month later they got 2 20" stainless .357s in stock.

if i get into CAS I will grab a 20" one. this one is going to be the fun gun and general "walk around the house gun"

I liked it new looking as well, but I wanted an old look more. I am happy with how it came out. I will look into the wax idea. thx!

I've got 1949 and 1955 Winchester 94s.
The 1949 & I were made the same year.......both 49ers.
Me, dad, gramps & my uncle must have logged 100 deer & 50 moose on that old gun all told.
If we notched it for each big game kill it would be down to the metal from butt plate to muzzle crown.
It was obviously a good year for guns & engineers.

Wow!

I could never do that. If the rifle had honest wear it's one thing, but to do that on purpose?

yep. we are totally used to it. I had a good amount of wear on my AK from the last decade, but I needed some more for my Khyber Pass look. it's all good. It's not like I am ever going to sell my AK, so it's mine for the long haul. This lever gun seems like something that will never leave me as well........so I'm doing it up now :)

I am really loving the old gun look on this lever gun. I'm glad I did it :-)
