Do you know anyone who has one to see just how much fitting would need to be done?

Bingo, or a shop with a marlin and a close friend that will let you do this with a used Marlin.

Did some looking around on the net. They are not giving away Marlin furniture cheap, even used stuff is demanding new prices. Guess my question would be where you looking for a cost savings or just options.

While looking for a H&R thumbhole stock I found this place. These are semi finished plain walnut. http://www.gunstocksinc.com/web_pages/P ... tocks.html
