They are out there just not on shelves most of the time in some areas like around here your lucky to find one. and if you do it can be listed at 700.00 bucks like it is a winchester.

Yes but for the most part they are all the same and NOT the model I am looking for. I do not believe as of YESTERDAY any one of them were case hardened .357 octagon 20 in barrel either. I can walk into any walmart and have a blue 16in .357 delivered to me for $501.00 in a matter of 3-4 days or go on to Bud's guns and find plenty of stainless .44's and some blued and have it in 2 days.

I think the point has been well made that apparently in many parts of the country they are quite popular, here in the Carolina's not so much so I guess with some exceptions of course. It's a matter of supply and demand and the demand here is minimal so no one stocks them. One dealer stated he did not believe they were produced in large numbers so they appear to be rare and are sold out quickly. That may be true...if case hardened are made possibly only a few hundred a year and a few cowboy dealers pre-order them for the most part they would be rare for other dealers unless I happen to find these select few that have made it to places like buds or davidsons etc. etc. I know CDNN gets a lot of stainless but never seen much other than .44 or the .454 's recently.

I guess I need to try to find me some dealers that cater more to the western type firearms and make friends over the phone and just stay in touch with them.

Noticed you were in SC. Might want to try Hyatts Guns, in Charlotte, NC,if that's close by. If you have never been there, its worth a trip. Nicest gun store I've EVER been in anywhere, and I travel a lot. They do show what you are looking for, special order, 6 to 8 week delivery, on their website,at a good price. They have a HUGE inventory, much of it,particularly used guns, are not listed on the website, probably worth a visit if you are in the area. Plan to stay awhile.

They are well known around here.... Tried them although it pained me to do so. Most shooters refuse to deal with them, their sales come from the uninformed. Local TV stations always to to them for stories so "civilians" know them from the news and don't know better. While Gander Mtn is home of MSRP Hyatt is home of above MSRP. Unless you are on the Internet then they charge normal prices, they know Internet shoppers are informed while the walk in's are impulse buyers or just the uninformed.

I called them Saturday just to see if they had one....any...and none...asked them about ordering and they said they did not have a supplier that had any he did appear to check for me. Maybe since it's SHOT show week distributors were empty awaiting new prices and models who knows. If they had one I was going to walk in and pull out cash and offer the going rate take it or leave it. Some say depending on the day and the item that can work.

Indeed they have a lot but when back in the day before the ammo scare was as bad as what it is today when they placed a price of $80 on 475 bulk pack federal (the malted milk looking box) I lost a lot of respect for them. No one was charging that much at the time, now it seems common.

I too have been to Hyatts and was shocked at their prices. One of my sons lives in Charlotte and took me by there for a visit. While I was up there recently, I went by to see if they had any Unique powder, cause I knew they had reloading supplies. They did not have it but had an 8 lb jug of red dot for $235.00!!!
A guy at the gun show wanted $165 for a jug and I told him that was a rip off. Powder valley sells it for $106.

Hyatt's is great for window shopping and on the right day you can sometimes talk Larry into a decent price. As to powder and reloading supplies in Charlotte, try Little Hardware.

Little hardware huh? do they have guns too? I'll have to tell my son bout them. I'm suppose to go up there to baby sit in a couple of weeks, I'll have to check them out while I'm there.

They have some things or at least did....I never saw them VERY low key no display area, mostly old Skool order what people requested. They are only open weekdays and you would go to the register and ask for Bobby who had worked their most of his life, he retired now and so,some else took over. They will escort you to the back of the warehouse to pick out what you need from the shelves. Dillon equipment some Lee, RCBS dies,Dillon dies, shells, powder, pallets of cast bullets, boxes of jacketed, and of course primers and powder. That's about it....pick it and get back to the register.
