Tried out some different ammo today as it was warm enough to shoot without gloves on (30 degrees). First 4 and on top was the PPU 123g sp, then 4 123g Herters sp, then a couple Wolf 123g fmj way down. The lone one on left was a 38sp wc from a previous shoot. I've shot some Wolf stuff earllier and it was all really low. Good thing it was cheap and not getting any more.

The Wolf stuff was .308, the PPU was .310 and Herters was .311. My reload is a 32-20 lead semi wad cutter at .314. Found 1000 for $24 that a guy bought for his 32-20 but never used. He has 2000 more if I want them. If I did the math right its about $.o65 a round.

The Herters looks like it might be a good big game bullet (deer, hogs, & black bear). Is this the group near the bullseye?

I've looked around for a Herter's 123-grain SP, Cabela's seems to be the outfit that markets this but they only offer a 154-grain SP in a steel case. The 123-grain in your picture has a brass case, were did you find the ammo?

The 2 to the right and below are the Herters. The one just left of bullseye and above are PPU. I got the Herters from Gabela's about a week ago. Item number 1BM-21-8429-797 reg price $11.99 on sale for $9.99 with $5 shipping, but sale was good from Dec. 19-24.

I purchased a Sig Sauer M-556-R after Sandy Hook incident, because suddenly I couldn't find .223 rounds suitable for hog hunting (until recently). I purchased 1000 rnds of 7.62x39 Tula soft points. The gun and cheap rounds are both new to me, but you are doing way better than me. The stuff flys unpredictably all over the place. I suspect the little red-dot that came with the gun--as its only sight -- is probably only for Close Quarters Combat style use. Your post at least makes me understand that it may just be the ammo. Finding quality 7.62x39 ammo is currently not easy, and at this time I'm just not motivated enough to pay the price for the Lapua ammo, I hear is extra high quality...
