Re: RD's First Kill with R762MB!
Killed a spike this morning with the R762MB and the PPU factory ammo. I shot the spike through the chest and it took off strong. It was running away from me so I shot it again at 120-yards and it went down. I knew I hit it the first time but I hit it very low in the chest, just below the heart. The second bullet entered hit just about dead center in the rear and spit the pelvis and travel through the length of the deer coming to rest just inside the hide at the base of the neck. The bullet, just as I figured, had beautiful expansion despite splitting the pelvis. I think I would not hesitate to use any of the Prvi Partizan jacketed lead core ammo. The price is definitely right!

The bullet demonstrates "classic" mushroom expansion similar to that obtained from premium factory ammo loaded with Nosler Partition, Swift H-frame, Accubond and other top-end bullets that probably outcosts the Prvi ammo by a factor of several times.

Congratulations on your success. I wish I could find a Rossi 7.62x39, nice little porker gun.

You sure don't see many used rifles for sale, any Rossi's for that matter.AhnkoChee wrote:Congratulations on your success. I wish I could find a Rossi 7.62x39, nice little porker gun.

NEF/H&R have both been acquired by Remington and to my knowledge are still producing single shot, break-open action guns under the H&R moniker.akuser47 wrote:new england firearms use to make single shots in various calibers IZ wish they still did.
I have 2 NEF single shot rifles (308 Win & 45-70 Gvt) & they are good guns.......really strong actions.

Re: RD's First Kill with R762MB!
This is one of the best hunting stories I've ever seen posted online.
Concise, suspenseful and so informative!
And "...rolled by a pig this size three times.." is something I'll be sure to remember
the next time I'm out hunting hogs.
Great post.
