I always put 5 or 6 coats of tru oil followed by two coats of Renaissance Wax... It's a 24 hour process but enhances the color and grain of the wood and seals against moisture ... My front and rear sights were very easy to remove and install but your mileage may vary on that. I have read that some you can push out with your pinky finger and some need to be driven out with a jackhammer..
