I've been with the same one for 41 years now so I'm not far behind you. She's not really all that bad, and I have been known to cross the sanity line now and then. Especially with my hobbies. I got lucky with the rocket hobby as she was as into it as I was. I think she has a couple more of them than I do.

dpe.ahoy wrote:I hope it's still there for you. I have two of the 454's, stainless Trapper and 20" blued, never had a thought of letting either one go. A lot of power in a light weight package, both feed and shoot 45 Colt rounds just as good for lighter loads. DP
Yeah, that's one of the things that makes it so appealing, is that it can shoot 45c too. I already have a 45, so with the 454 I would not have the need to push the colt to get the speed up.

I got it. +guns and i was able to talk him down to $500 and no tax!

So then I went to the biggest reloading vendor and got 200 starline 454 cases, then over to the other guy to get 8 lbs of Lilgun powder. All I need now is some bullets. I didn't even think about bullets while I was there cause I am a caster and I figured that I can make them as good as "they" can, soooo. I have a bunch of lyman 45/260 grain kieth type bullets already cast and sized so.......i'll be giving these a try just as soon as I get it "broken in".

Anyone have a good load for a 454..250-260 bullet, and Lilgun? I want a full or very close to full power load, as I have lots of 45C loads already.

yeah Dave, i never thought that he would go for it, but he did.
And the icing on the cake was that when I got home, the wife wanted to see it???? she thought that it looked good???? I'm still waiting to find out what that really means. But since I don't speak "female"' I know that I will never know for sure. I think that she was proud of me for babysitting for the whole week.

This is what I've been using for little gun with the few FA 260 gr bullets I have loaded. Very happy with the accuracy with them also.

260 GR. FA JFP Lil'Gun .452" dia., OAL 1.765", 33.4gr @ 1744 fps, 28,800 CUP ,max 35.5gr @ 1895 fps, 37,900 CUP

Thanks RD,Ken.

Ok Joe, that sounds good to me. Dang, 10,000 units difference in pressure for just 2.0 grains more powder? I have read a lot about Lilgun making great velocity with much less pressure than 110/269 and the other magnum powders. I just don't see that as being possible, but maybe so. RD, have you tested this out with your pressure trace equipment ?
I'm gonna try the 300mp powder in it also since it worked so well in the 357, that is it worked well AFTER I figured out that i had to put two heaping shovels full of powder in the case.

Joe, how many 1000s of rounds can I put through the 454 before our "agreement" of you taking it off my hands cause I don't like it, is no longer a good deal? I tend to try and wear a new gun out right after I buy it, and then it sits for a long time.

How ever many can you shoot in single session before it becomes painful x daily session for 3 months. You might make a 1000 rounds....

Oh and Lil'Gun has become my go to magnum powder hands down. I also like 4227 and 2400 as well but for slightly lighter loads.
