Re: "Rossi Rifleman Riders" I gotta laugh

remus wrote:I rode my bike to a gathering this morning. It is somewhat breezy here for the last couple of days, 15 to 25 mph winds just blowing from the north. Silly woman comes over and says, "Kind of windy to be riding today isn't it"? I just looked at here like she was stupid, she probably is, and said "Lady, it's always windy on a motorcycle if you are riding." She got kind of a blank look on her face, I just walked away, didn't know what else to do.
Out here I've been told it is not windy until 'quarter rock!' That is to say when rocks the size of quarters are in the air THEN the wind is blowing. I've seen hanger roll up doors rated at 100MPH winds blown in and swinging loose from the rails. When guys on two wheels are leaned over at 30 degrees to the horizontal and all the 18 wheelers are pulled into the areas under the bridges and refusing to travel it is a bit windy to ride a motorcycle.

25-35MPH is a PITA for riding the ME powered mountain bike.
Especially uphill against the wind like last Saturday, at 44 degrees it was becoming unpleasant.

I usually run 2.35-2.4" tires as that's about the limit on my frames, especially with the front derailleur.
I've got buds with full downhill rigs that run larger tires.

Love the looks of the fat tire bikes but I'd probably kill myself with one.

I had no choice as money is tight. So she is in the hands of a 19years old that really got my nerves rilled up his dad understood and listened to what I was trying to tell the kid. He didnt I even had to use my smart phone and his fathers name to track him down because he left so fast i had to get my plate off. I will get another motocycle for now My fat butt will be on a mountain bike again and i will be buying some kind of 4X4. I will miss it but My uncle is back and has a few harleys. I can ride with him so this is good as I can ride the hog without haveing to pay for it. LoL I will be still getting my heels in the breeze once or twice a month. O a 2012 rode king or 2013 fatboy whichever he lets me ride I will not complain. +guns

I certainly understand you "gotta do what ya gotta do"! Sorry to hear.

I think many of us have fallen on hard times at one point or another, I sure as heck have and I am about to again.

Glad to hear you have a means to keep riding on occasion. And as far as "your fat butt on a mountain bike"....I think I need to do that again soon!

Best of luck!

If you hit 12 miles you done good, maybe better depending on the trail/route.

I've been hitting 5 or 6 a couple times a week recently.
Less Saturday this week and Sunday I ended up walking/hiking about 2.5 hours on some single track trails instead of riding due to the wind.

Next week the plan is to hit a local trail with around 5K Ft ascending by 6-8 miles of fire road followed by around 4.5-6 miles of single track descent back to the trail head.
