Contact them at 800-852-5734 or write them at:
Winchester Firing Pin Recall Notice
PO Box 10 Cottage Hills, IL 62018
If you will send them the old firing pin along with the s/n they will send a new pin and a gift card for $30.00 to cover installation.
Be sure the pin has not been changed to the new style before tearing into the action. The old style pin can be rotated in the bolt while the new style has a milled flat that prevents rotation. The back of the pin can be examined through the magazine well without disassembly.
Thanks pricedo! When we this happened out on my range, we called Winchester and they pulled up the record as to his dad having actually sent the rifle in and Winchester installing the new style pin. Their attitude at that point was "good luck". Like I said, I'm not interested in working on the rifle but I will pass this along.

As to what is happening, the first trigger pull empties all the rounds in the rifle. If you could control it and had a large capacity magazine, it would make a heck of a battle rifle!
Don't dismiss the rifle out of hand just yet.
Just imagine........a whole sounder of hogs with 1 trigger squeeze.
Doubt if BATFE would approve but I won't tell if you don't.

Seriously, I find it disconcerting that the full auto occurrence happened AFTER the recall fix.
My friend with the carbine model 100 hasn't had a single problem.
I presume that his rifle had the recall fix but he never mentioned it.
I'll ask him next time I see him.

**If the rifle goes up in a blaze of full automatic glory at least I'll have the Bushnell ScopeChief IV scope with the Command Post reticule.

We called one of these numbers from their website, (800) 945-5237 or (801) 876-3440, and they looked it up by serial number.

My friend has called the gunsmith that made the YouTube video and is sending the rifle to him. This topic has raised my interest in the Win 88, 284 and 358 Win are a bit pricey! Seems the going rate is about $3K! The 308 Win are quite common and I might start watching for one. I've owned Savage 99s chambered in 250 & 300 Savage plus a 308 Win but never really drew close to them like I did the Marlins and now the Rossi's.

I watched a lot of Jim Greens YouTube presentations...........they are very good.
You actually get a clear explanation and an equally clear view of what he's doing with the guns rather than a kaleidoscope of backs of heads, arms & elbows as in the more amateurish YouTube videos.

The actual case stamped 358 Winchester ammo is a bit hard to get but necking up 308 Winchester (the 358 Winchesters parent case) cases is easy.
After fire-forming and trimming the cases will work fine.
I prefer correctly head-stamped cases if I can get them.

Me too!

Weird that MidwayUSA still stocks 284 Win brass but not 358? The 358 Win has been removed from their list of cartridges when you search for brass.

A person might need to buy some factory 358 Winchester ammo to get cases.
Saw 6 boxes of Hornady 200 grainers on a shop shelf today while I was taking my daily constitutional.
For me I'd just shoot the factory ammo & be done with it.
I don't have a 358 anymore so this is a purely academic discussion.

You've probably got more firepower at the ranch than the Texas division of the National Guard now.
If the North Koreans attack Texas will be in good shape.
