Light primer strikes

We traded into a Rossi that has a 22 LR and a 17 HMR barrel. The 22 barrel fires fine but the 17 HMR barrel it dimples the case but does not fire the round. What could be causing the 17 barrel do you have a light primer strike but the 22 LR barrel to fire just fine?
