Is it normal for the stock to have any play on the tang?
The gun is new and the screw is tight, but after shooting a while yesterday, I noticed a bit of play in the stock-to-tang mount.
Thanks,
Dave

Dave, there should be NO PLAY at the rear tang to stock fit of your rifle AT ALL, WHATSOEVER!

I would pull the stock off and look for a hair line crack or broken stock. The stock should be tight, snug with no wiggle when installed. If not any of the above blue lock tight is your friend.

might have to build up the wood a touch rather than try cranking down on the metal.
but it definitely should not be loose.

Re: Loose stock on new R92
I think (maybe) it wasn't well seated at the factory. I took it off, looking for cracks or obvious defects in the woodworking. Then put it back in place, with a good slap to the butt to seat it well. Re-tightened the bolt and (so far) it is tight. I'll see if the next shooting session ends with it still tight.
