Anyhow I dug this old rifle out and promptly fell in love with it again. It had the usual mismatched stock & forend, so I walnut stained them both until they roughly matched and then rubbed in four coats of Tru Oil.

I put a 0.410 tall, 1/16 Marbles brass bead front sight in it and that makes for a much finer sight picture than the OEM brass hubcap did. The way it all worked out, I get a 100 yard zero on the lowest notch and 200 yard zero on the next one. These being with my bulk 45 Colt load that scoots at Lee 255 grain lead Flat Nose 1180 fps from this rifle. Right after taking this photo it put three of them into 5 1/2" at 200 yards.
