Are 92 barrels drilled and tapped?
A guy on the Lever Guns group on Facebook told me Rossi 92 barrels are drilled and tapped under the rear sight. Is this true? I looked with a bright flashlight and don't see any holes, but I'm not taking a sight off just to check. Both my Rossi's are 24", stainless, octagonal, so there's plenty of meat there.

I believe most are but not all. Plus you can see the holes by simply sliding the rear sight ramp out. I can see my holes without even removing my sight ramp.

Only the round barrel rifles are drilled & tapped, not the octagonal.

None of my 4 (four) 92s with round BBLs are drilled and taped. Must be the newer ones that are. I replaced all the sights on mine with Marbles, front ,and rear sights, and their were no holes.

I believe that the Pearson's No-Drill will fit your application. Look down the page a bit and you will see an octagonal R92 with the mount. I just haven't gone through all the information.rondog wrote:Bummer.....Ranch Dog wrote:Only the round barrel rifles are drilled & tapped, not the octagonal.

I bought my Puma in '95 and when I replaced the sights, did not see any tapped holes in it's barrel. I used a plug in the dovetail from Kiowa Jones...

Just the Braztech manufactured Puma's are drilled and tapped. That would be 2008 and later. I kind of suspect that this will be something that will be dropped in that they no longer make the base.mikld wrote:I bought my Puma in '95 and when I replaced the sights, did not see any tapped holes in it's barrel. Not a lot of scope bases for octagonal barrels anyway. As a consolation prize, my recent vintage octagonal 92 comes from the factory with the tang D&T for adding an orifice sight, while the round barrels don't, AFAIK.rondog wrote:Bummer.....Ranch Dog wrote:Only the round barrel rifles are drilled & tapped, not the octagonal.
