The hammer lock operates with a tamper resistant hex key (hex key with a hole in it, available at darn near any hardware store). A partial turn of the screw locks the hammer. It's a much maligned feature, but I like it. The only other child-proofing technique for a lever action is to wrap a cable lock through the lever and around the stock.

I gotta say I'm glad my 92 shoots and operates very well, as Tauras/Braztech seems pretty half-ass, judging by this omission of the key and the lack of details in the exploded parts drawing.
Call them, they will send you a key. I like them as well. I use them if I leave my Rossi revolver or rife, or my Taurus handguns in my truck.
