Rossi .480

What would be a good price for a Rossi .480. Son gave it to me new and I shot it twice. Shot twice, no box or papers.

In 2012, I paid $650 for my on GunBroker. It had that as a "Buy It Now" price. I had a search set up that notified me immediately when it was listed, and I bought it without hesitation as on that venue when they surfaced, they sold for at least $100 more than what I paid.

Not many appear on the auction sites, maybe one rifle a year. One sold on GunBroker in November for $750 which seems low but gun prices are a bit suppressed right now but starting to do better. All the indiscriminate buying of the last election cycle is catching up with the industry. That listing had a $750 reserve price so that fellow wanted to move the rifle. It would have been more interesting if it did not have an aftermarket synthetic stock and a very large loop lever installed.

With only 100 manufactured, it is hard to say. I doubt I will ever sell mine but if I where, I would list it on GunBroker, without reserve, at $950 and see where it went. If you described it well, with text and pictures, It would sell for over $1K.

It's worth what somebody would pay. I wouldn't sell it if it was mine.

I made mine into a scout. I have what appears to be a matched grain forearm and buttstock. The rifle had the ugly black wood stain. I removed the water-based finish and applied the Tru-Oil, walnut stained finish.
