Thoughts of chopping a 223 Barrel to 16.5

Anybody done this, I have an extra 223 barrel and am seriously thinking of cutting one back

My general thought is does it really buy you anything?

Otherwise I'd check in the gunsmithing board here for inexpensive methods of crowning.

Handier,
Lighter,
Maybe more accurate.


Cons:

LOUDer,
Velocity loss - maybe significant.
