Best Cheap Ammo for 223
Picked up a single shot 223, I know ammo is cheap for this. What do you use?

Re: Best Cheap Ammo for 223
If you shoot wolf try to use military classic as its not got the polymer coating that can cause the case to get stuck in your chamber. Not common in single shoots anyway that I'm aware of but just in case.

Wolf Gold (brass, not steel) in .223 was on sale at Target Ammo for $5.99/box. I bought a case, and it was shipped FREE.

This is how I shop for factory or surplus ammo:

There are similar websites you can try.

Re: Best Cheap Ammo for 223
Do you reload? Will you be picking up your spent cases?
If not, the cheap steel import will poke holes in paper just about as well as anything else out there. There will be some consistency issues, as there is with anything you don't load yourself or match grade ammunition.
If you reload or are picking up your spent cases for someone who does, search for brass case, boxer primed. If you pick up enough spent brass, you can sell it to local reloaders to offset your next ammo purchase.
Since it is going through a single shot, you don't have the same concerns that many .223 shooters have regarding damaged cases through ejection and recovery of spent brass in muddy, snow or grass covered areas.

Re: Best Cheap Ammo for 223
I broke my M4 build in using TulAmmo steel "junk" (against advice) because the place I was shooting didn't allow brass pick up. All 100 of them went off without a hitch and they were more accurate than I expected.
That being said, I agree with the above. I thought $320 to my door was a good deal for this when I bought it but maybe not. It's the cheapest brass/boxer .223 I found at the time.

Re: Best Cheap Ammo for 223
Topic was derailed. We're talking cheap reloadable .223 right?
