add about 50% bright orange to the mix and I would hand out little bags of those to the trick-or-treat bunch. They would probably like that better than the onion or potatoe I put in their sack

really nice looking product there, Don. It's been fun watching you develop the process.

Mean....maybe a little .... more though, just a good planner. Two years in a row the mrs. was doing a function at the church on Halloween and left me to tend to the very few visitors we might have. All our friends kids had out grown the thing, and us being somewhat "out in the country", most weren't from "the neighborhood" and a bit unsavory looking anyway. Haven't had a single t or t'er in 5 or 6 years.

Have you noticed any adverse effects from shooting the "painted "boolits, ie barrel wear?

No,it does look very clean almost polished. The bore stays very clean. One or two passes with a dry patch is usually enough to bring out the shin. A patch soaked with a solvent will bring out some black stuff. Not sure what it is, powder residue or burned paint. Comes out real easy though.

Don, do you shoot the plain base bullets at magnum velocities, and if so do you get any leading from the plain base being uncovered? Have you been able to rest the bullets on their nose to coat the base? That could be some of the black residue left in the barrel.

Re: whole lot of 358-429s in Technicolor
I do shoot them at mag pressures/velocities sometimes. And no. I do not get leading then either.
The base of the bullets do not melt, there just is not enough time for that to happen. So, there is no reason to "paint" the base. But I do read where some guys worry about this and paint the bottoms.
I really think that the black stuff is primer and powder residue, and maybe a little paint residue left behind from the friction. In either case, it does not affect accuracy. My guns/bullets shoot the same even after hundreds of shots. I have cleaned the barrel with lacquer thinner, after a hundred or so, till nothing is on a clean patch. Then continue shooting, and it shoots exactly the same...........group size seems to just depend on if i'm holding my mouth right or not, usually NOT! Then the next day with a dirty barrel and a hangover, I get little groups.
