Since Sunday, three of us, meaning my son, son-in-law, and I have applied for a PA Elk License. This is a lottery type drawing with very limited tags available.Of the 108 tags there are only 27 antlered licenses and the rest, 81, antlerless. We all applied for an antlered license.
Last year there were about 18,000 applicants so you can see that the odds of being drawn are really slim. My rifle preference will be a Marlin 444 Outfitter shooting 300 gr. Ranch Dog bullets just under 2000 fps.
Wish me (us) luck!

Good luck, when does the drawing close?
I do the same thing here with the desert bighorn. Getting pulled from the bucket on this hunt is extremely slim.

Re: Wish me (us) luck!
RD,
Entries end on Thursday, July 31st. The drawings are in mid-August. Both resident and non-resident have an equal chance. Application fee is $10.70 which is non refundable. An elk license is another $25.00 resident and $225.00 non resident. The season lasts a week so accommodations would factor in. I hope either of my "partners" is drawn because I can go as a tag-along.
Our elk country is just west of center, in the north central part of the state.

Good luck Steelbanger! I hope you get picked. Be prepared for a LOT of work if you get one down.
