Finished, well almost

Post by xbr10dr »

Hope this works first attempt at posting pics
1980-01-01 00.00.26.jpg
1980-01-01 00.00.13.jpg
Here's what I did
Tore down and smoothed rough internals per Steves DVD (worth every penny)
Installed Gunslinger Spring Kit ( except trigger spring ) gonna shoot it first then decide
SS mag follower and spring from the Smith Shop
Skinner Barrel mounted peep sight, got the front sight also but want to shoot first, may not be
needed
I didn't strip the stocks, just wiped down with acetone to remove any oils from handling, it has
about 10 VERY LIGHT coats of Tru Oil sanded between every 2 coats with 400 then 1000 wet dry
for first six coats, then between every coat on the final 4 coats, let dry for 72 hours, then 2
rub downs with B/C stock sheen and conditioner, let dry 24 hours, and a final rub down.

Things I may do
Grind spring on loading gate, this is probably a definite
Add Skinner front sight if needed
Find a removable butt pad, the LOP is way to short for me

With all that being said, I want to THANK EVERYONE for their contributions on this site, without
which none of this would have been possible. I think I have read every post on the 92 and Gunsmithing forums

Thanks AGAIN,
Rick

On my 20" (44 mag, stainless), the factory front worked great with my skinner rear. I'm going to move the skinner to my new 16" (again 44 mag stainless) and see if I need the skinner front.

20" 44 mag is the rifle that I'm considering the sight for.
