Favorite Hunting loads for .357mag

I'm fairly new to reloading and .357mag is the only round I load. I have loaded 180gr cast performance WFNGC and 158gr Hornady XTPs with max loads of H110 and have been pleased. I'm just curious if any of y'all have had success with either of those bullets or something similar. The idea is that the cast bullets will be for hops and the XTPs for deer. I'm eager to learn so any info regarding hunting with the .357mag would be appreciated. Thanks

Greetings and welcome to the forum. I have a R92 chambered in 357 Mag that I use for deer and hog hunting. During load development for a 175-grain bullet of my design, a TLC359-175-RF, The bullet has a round, flat nose weighing in with gas check at 175-grains. I actually designed this bullet for the Marlin 1894C and use it with that rifle as well at the .359" diameter. For the R92, I size it at .357". I worked up loads with both H110 & Lil'Gun, Lil'Gun ended up being my choice as it was faster and had tighter groups. I use the max load, 16.1-grains, for 1800 FPS.

Nice i shot alot of 158 xtp and have shot alot of bought over internet cast 180 checked. I love heavy rounds.

For varmints, 125 gr JHP and IMR4227 powder. Very accurate out of rifles and handguns.

Beartooth Bullets 185gr FNGC at .359 over 16gr H110/W296 and standard primer. Awsome round.

I am with RD on this one as it comes to Lil'Gun, I shoot a lot of 357 Max and 357 Mag. Lil'Gun seems like it is made for the Max and does a fantastic job in the Mag also. It is 'go to powder' for both. It is also the powder I use mostly in my 94 Marlin and Ruger Blackhawk in 357 x 44 Bain & Davis.
