I ordered an O gauge train set-- Lionel # 6-30174 Pennsylvania Freight Flyer Set Got it in ebay 199.99 shipped UPS. I cannot wait to get it put together and play with it. lol I have some older lionel engines an 1062 2-4-2, an 8300 2-4-0.
Anyone else into train sets?

Nope never had one..... My father-in-law was into them big time. My current investment portfolio is pinto beans and bullets....

with all the gun stuff I should have got instead I am still happy. A train for under the tree

Nothing wrong with that...... Maybe you can load the cars with bullets, primers, brass and powder and as you need a component you can pick them off the car as it passes by the reloading press.....

It was an itch that had no cure I really should have bougth a match dot for my mark III. It will be fun when my nephews n neices are over to play.

I got an itch for Syma Helicopters last winter. I bought a bunch of them and flew them around in the garage until I was proficient.Taught my grandkids to fly them but haven't messed with them since.

When I was a young fellow, I had quite a lot of interest in the railroad as my grandfather, who had died before I had a recollection of him, had been an engineer. We lived in the country with a railroad nearby so I spent a lot of time watching it go by. One day I was out there with my dog waiting for it to go by and the fellow brought it to a stop to go up a spur to leave a load of gravel. He told me to grab my dog and climb up, which we did. He talked me through moving the train up and back down the spur. Quite a thrill for a young fellow in Jr. High School. I had a cow dog then too, she had jumped up on a fold down seat and was hanging out the window like dogs do. Wish I had a picture of that now!

Lived in Altoona PA for a few years. Tons of folks used to travel in to see Horse Shoe Curve. Did some hunting right beside it for Bear......

I am just looking for that awe I felt as a child with a train and the overcast of the tree lights. I will probably only use it as a tree train but who knows. I am almost always taking on more hobbies I cannot afford. I may not find that awe but my nephew and neices maybe. who knows with video games and gadgets these days though. I think it will be all me. They will more than likely tire of it.
