Re: Official R92 Picture Thread
I'm pretty sure that isn't a julian date as that would be 12/01/1908.

Re: Official R92 Picture Thread
I see that differently... I would have said the stock was manufactured in December of 1980.
That would also dovetail with the time Interarms was distributing the rifle...

Re: Official R92 Picture Thread
Yeah, that would be reasonable. I don't quite get the fascination that many have with needing to know when a firearm was manufactured. To me, it is like needing to know when my hammer was manufactured. I have friends that feel the need and it drives them crazy if they don't know. I simply don't get it.

Obviously, it's not as important with a Rossi.
But if you go to sell an older, used Winchester, Colt, S&W, etc., you DANG well better know when it was manufactured!
(Besides, some of us come by that "need to know" honestly... We play old Martin guitars!)

Re: Official R92 Picture Thread
It's older than mine. An obvious logical guess is December 1980.
I hope RD was joking.
None of my hammers are worth anything. I know the year of anything I have that is.

Re: Official R92 Picture Thread
Not really. It is just immaterial to me when the my firearms were made unless I need that information for parts. I would take stock in something that was passed on to me but that value has nothing to do with a date of manufacture. I do have a hammer with that value, I use it in my reloading room, and what matters to me is who held it and not when it was made.GasGuzzler wrote:I hope RD was joking.
Don't mean any offense by it but just curious as to the why.

Re: Official R92 Picture Thread
We drove out to Vegas a couple months ago. While cruising a dirt road in Arizona, I stopped for a photo op with my 16" 357.
