Thanks! I like the sights so far... fairly quick to use, accurate enough, and low profile so they dont get hung up on things.

Re: Official R92 Picture Thread
Thanks. I did the stock. Tried a boyds stock so I could get a recoil pad on more easily to increase the length of pull. Borrowed a belt grinder and fit a pachmeyr decelerator and spacer. Im not a gun smith so theres a nick or two on the stock but it gives it some character.
The fit on the buttstock is OK but not great even after some adjustment. The handguard fit was way off and after adjusting for a while I gave up and went back to the factory grip. Both stained, lots of raw linseed oil, and beeswax to finish. Boyds stock is more porous so they look a little off in person.

I like the finish. It's different for sure but cowboys didn't have stainless steel in the 1890's either. It looks good.

VERY nice on the cerakote.
I've been considering going that route if I get one that's been banged up a bit.

GasGuzzler said his has Julian calendar dates when you expose hidden wood/metal surfaces (same number inside tang, for instance), but I think there should be two more digits for that to work.Ranch Dog wrote:Very nice looking rifle. Not sure what the 8012 is.
I'd love any input on the age of this rifle!
Thanks
