It depends on where your barrel is coming from.

Both require partial disassembly of the gun, both require reassembly of the gun

IF your barrel is pre-threaded, pre contoured, etc. for your weapon needing only to be installed and the chamber reamed to final dimensions then you are of course correct.

IF on the other hand you are starting with a barrel blank that requires you to cut the installation threads on it, chamber it, cut the extractor and sight dovetails and any notches for the barrel band screws or other locking pins...

vs.

A takedown conversion reusing the initial barrel, that is not using interrupted threads and requires no new barrel threading?
Check out this example:

Quote from the initial finish:
"This project was a lot of fun and very quick. 6 Hours from beginning to end!"
The reason I said initial finish is if you read it all the way through you will find the author started with a lemon with a very bad barrel and had to replace it. He used a pre threaded barrel since one was readily available in the correct chambering.
BUT he decided to complicate things a little and go octagonal while keeping the takedown capability.

SUPER SWEET job and really nothing overly complex about it.

Certainly not the fella from the link, you can be assured of that

The barrel maker is also the gunsmith.
