Does Williams make a peep sight for the 92?

Not that I'm aware of. XS does, a ghost ring, but it requires gunsmithing. Skinner makes a barrel peep that replaces the factory sight.

Yes, they do. It’s the 5D or 5P-94, still listed in the 2019 catalog. Sold for top eject 94s, but mount the same with d&t on the 92.

Thanks for making me look. Williams has eliminated the whole Quick Convertible line from the 2019 catalog. I can’t buy new, and eBay has not been kind to me lately.

I've always liked the Lyman 66 for lever actions because it has a zero set screw and a clearly marked elevation slide with a push button release for fast elevation adjustments.

I think the Lyman 66 is the one I like the looks of when I was checking them out a couple years ago.

Winchester (and Marlin for that matter) never really got around to improving the sights or setting the guns up for a better sight system from the factory. Better may be the enemy of 'good enough' but being able to bolt on an improvement without having to go the gunsmith drill and tap road is a big incentive IMO.

Winchester used to. The 71 and 88 both had mounting holes for receiver sights. I have a Lyman on my 88, and agree that it’s nicer than the Williams. I keep looking for a Lyman to replace the Williams on the 71, but they’re rare and expensive.

After using the Lyman 57 and 66 on several rifles, I've reached the point I don't buy anything else in an aperture sight. The new ones are aluminum but Lyman made them from steel for decades. You can find the older steel version on ebay etc. if you are patient.

I briefly consider the Skinner for my '92s but for my eyes it would have been too far away to do me much good, so both of them wear Marbles tang sights. I just put a Skinner Express in solid brass on my new 1895 Marlin, decidedly a little bling and the wonderful discovery that out of the packaging and on the gun it's right on in elevation. It may need a touch of windage but think I'll wait for longer than 25 yards.

Bonus weekend is the 21/22 and weather permitting the 1895 will go out one day.
