Rossi92 accuracy

Post by vtoran »

Who has tested Rossi 92 for accuracy, preferably on 100 yards and with optic?
There are a lot of rumors, that Marlin levers can shoot submoa groups. Is that true? And what about Rossi?

When I can take a little time to scan and post a couple of targets from a day last June, I think they are pretty indicative of my R92's capability. Same day, same load - one target 50 yards, another at 100 yards. Gun was Rossi R92, 20", 44 mag - optic was Weaver Scout scope. Life is a bit difficult right now, but I do want to follow through with my little contribution to answer your question

Here is a video for accuracy reference.
Three shots, two at an empty freon jug at 200 yards, one at a 10 in steel plate at 100 yards.
These are hand loaded 325 grain 45LC bullets.
Scope is Leupold FX2 Scout Scope with only 2.8 magnification.

I'd say my 357 1892 is minute if popcan at 50 yards. I don't shoot iron sights past that my eyes aren't good enough it be a waste. +guns

Neither of my '92s are scopped. The 45 Colt has a Marbles tang sight and the 357 is stock right now and on a good day they about inch and a quarter at 50 yards and 2 to 2 and 1/2 at 100 with my old eyes.

I do believe until I personally saw it done I'd take claims of sub MOA from any lever gun with a large grain of salt. I've seen similar claims for the SKS and the AK-47 but I've never seen anything close to MOA from either.
Just me maybe :)

For what it's worth, this is 25yds with .45 colt 24" barrel. Havent had much time to shoot any longer distances. (this is with the factory rear ramp sight.)
My eyes are getting so old that ai just couldn't be happier with this grouping .
It might be hard to see but there are 4 on the bottom and one on the top. (I quit while I was ahead.)
No wind, 250 gn. Berry's plated round nose, over 15.2 grs. of 2400 powder.
