Supply and demand :) you sure don't see these come up for action every day. Congrats to seller and buyer.
I'd sure like to see Rossi offer tube feed in all their guns.

If this isn't a wake up call to Rossi then nothing ever will be. Seriously, this is a $1700 Rossi we are talking about.

Dude, I've sold Marlins on GB for $1700 to $2500 just because they had the silly (JB). Granted they were not common Marlins but they sure were nowhere close to a 1 in a hundred firearm in a cool cartridge.

In the last decade, I've sold a lot of firearms. The one lesson I've learned is not to sell them face to face or on consignment where you set the price. Somewhere, for some reason, someone is willing to pay a maximum price for your firearm and honestly, he is looking on GunBroker. Of course, this doesn't apply to guns you can buy every day in a box store.

Heck, I've sold a Marlin barrel in the wrapper for over a grand.

What confuses people is they then think such a rifle has its auction sale price as a value. Just as RD wrote above, an auction price is generally well above what 99.9% of people would pay. The machismo of being the winner of an auction doubles the sale price in many instances. This is what is happening to the JMs online. People at MO.com claim their .357 JM 1894 is worth $1200 because of an auction price yet once a month someone buys one face to face for $450 even though "they're all gone".

Hence, my lesson. As a seller, never sell face to face.

Texas is a terrible place to sell a levergun, especially in South Texas. Everyone has their granddad's M94 stuck in the corner of some forgotten closet and overall, any additional levergun has no value.

when I came across the winchester 94, 30-30, unfired, serial # put it at 1956, I speculate that A local family brought it in to the closest gunshop, after the owner passed away.
Found it in a closet, where it had been for many decades.
LGS probably gave them $450, then put it on the rack for $900.00
Since Ive been a good customer for ten years or so, they dropped the price to $825.
I went down the road to another LGS and was offered $1000, told them no way,
They said if I went over to the Saturday morning gunshow in nearby Somerset that I could easily get $1500.
Told them I wouldnt take $5000.
who knows what would happen on gunbroker,
But this is more then just an old lever rifle, I was born in 1956, same as the winchester, It will never be fired.
And will go to my Son and Grandson one day.
Back in the late 70s/early 80s, my sisters ex husband stole my Father and Grandfathers firearm collection.
My Grandfather was born in 1893 and had some priceless firearms.
I now have one to pass down, hopefully it will stay in the family.
Ive been looking for this rifle for many years, planned on settling with a worn but functional version, and was giving up hope.
Then a new one dropped in my lap that morning, when I walked in the LGS just to drop off farm eggs.
And the rifle caught the corner of my eye when I turned to walk out. +guns

There are still rossi’s Out there. A shop close to me has two .357’s and I think one .45 long colt. I guess I ought to pick those up as somebody will be wanting them. What is a good price?
