M92 identification markings

Postby 64wildcatconv » 06 Jun 2018 08

Still looking for some info on my Navy Arms/Rossi M92 in .44-40. I noticed that the lower tang is marked "A.ROSSI S.A. - MADE IN BRAZIL":

The only markings I found inside are these which look to be cast or formed into the bottom side of the upper tang that read "8", "N", and either "9" or "6":

What does it mean? Does the "A. Rossi" indicate a period of manufacture, quality, or ???

This best explains it ROSSI HISTORY AND BACKGROUND INFORMATION

It is not uncommon to find some early post '97 rifles with Braztech stamped receivers with the A. Rossi roll stamp on the barrel. My 480 Ruger is like that, but because it has the Braztech stamp, RossiUSA can look up the serial number.
