Saddle Ring Sling from The Wilderness
Sometime between 2014 and the present, 3/20/18, the online store went blank and this sling is no longer available. This was my original topic: Junior Doughty's Saddle Ring Sling. I am a fellow that does like the saddle ring on my Rossi's. I even added the "staple loop to my 454 Casull and 480 Ruger. As a hunter, I have found this a simple but effective way to carry a rifle.
I use the Junior Doughty's Sling, which is no longer available due to his passing in 2014, and have started to search for an inexpensive replacement as after six years of field use I find myself looking at the ring snap that Junior used and wondering how well it will age. I would hate to find out when I ascending up the ladder of a tower blind.
So, I found a replacement that I have ordered from "The Wilderness".
I received it a couple of days ago. It is going to work. I like the ability to release the rifle without removing the sling plus I can purchase the additional straps for all my SRCs.

You're welcome. Even if you have a number of SRCs, the loop that goes on the rifle can be moved from one to the other within a minute.Mad Trapper wrote:Thank you RD.

Not sure what you mean by this. The snap hook was on the Junior Doughty's Saddle Ring Sling,SaltH2Odeprived wrote:Is the “snaphook for ring adapter” option needed?
What I replaced with it with is this. You can click on each image to get to the product pages.
Here are the two parts on my 357 Mag R92.

I use a Magpul single-point sling made for AR's. It has a quick-release snap on it with a short lanyard. Just a tug and the rifle is released instantly.

This topic has me thinking and that is always a dangerous thing. Now I want a Pancho Villa version with good tight 45 Colt loops... shouldn't need more than about 30 of 'em for a slow day

The closest I found to your Panch Villa version is what this guy made.
