Identifying 92 2017 & '18 Year Models

As of late, the post focus has been on the demise of the Rossi 92 and whether or not the cataloged models will be produced. I thought I would post the various model numbers that were cataloged this year and the previous two years to see if any members have actually purchased a 2017 or 2018 R92.

This post wasn't about when you bought it; it is about when the rifle was manufactured. The box end indicates the actual model number as will the "Find My Rossi" link on RossiUSA. Rossi has always been very slow on updating their database, but they can find it via a phone call to 305-624-1115.

The switch from Amedeo Rossi to Braztech began in 2008, but the R92 was not reintroduced until 2009. Between that year and 2016, model numbers were very consistent, and you will need the lookup (web-based or phone) to identify the actual model year. The 2016 list below is included as a "base" reference for the change in what had been standing model numbers. Again, my inquiry is specific concerning 2017 and '18 model availability.[hr]

Rossi's online lookup doesn't find my serial number, and I haven't tried calling. Judging by the numbers I've found inside & outside the rifle, I'm pretty certain it was made in 2017. ;) The inside of the upper tang has "02/17" dot-matrix stamped on it.

Thank you for the pictures! I would call them, I with you on the manufacturing date. This method of identifying a rifle is great!

Picked up a 357 today and the carton has 923571613 on the label. Has 2017 stamped under the serial number. It has AD stamped on top side of the tang like the above picture and 04 / AF088411 stamped on the bottom. ??? Serial number in the 1100 range.

Purchased R92 357 2093 stainless 20" from Sportsmens Outdoor Superstore about 2 weeks ago. Stamped 2017. Very good fit and finish. Have not been to the range with it.
