Rossi 22LR 20 RND BBlue Blue

Post by deadeye »

Buds shows this gun as out of stock on their site. I have never seen or heard of it anywhere else. Do these really exist? If so, are they a copy of the 9422 or something else?

The Rossi R92 Round Barrel in 22 LR delivers a shorter, lighter versions of their big brothers. With the 20" carbine model it has all the great features of its big brother like the hardwood stock, manual safety, Buckhorn sights, and a blued finish. All R92 round barrel models feature crescent buttplates and an extended front sight.

It was a catalog & Shot Show promise a decade ago that never materialized.

Too bad. I'll hold out for a used 9422 but I like the lines of this Rossi 22 and would buy it over a Henry or Chiappa 39a copy.

Although not (yet) a Henry fan, you can get an H001 for $270 .... I don't see a Rossi being much less new if they ever decided to make one.

I'm sure Henrys work fine. New designs from new companies pretending to be old designs from old companies just don't do it for me.

It says "side loading gate" but they neglect to show a picture of the loading gate, or I missed it.
FWIW, I have the Henry H001 and the Winchester 94/22 (1975) the 94 is so much better than the Henry, of course the price is 2-3x that of the Henry.

As stated I'm no Henry fan. My point was merely to say the entry level Henry is cheap price-wise....which is the selling point of a Rossi.

There are good arguments towards a Henry, specially in .22
  1. Available, as compared to Rossi
  2. As mentioned by GasGuzzler, their .22s are reasonably priced
  3. Smooth out of the box
  4. Great customer support. As in Hi-Point level or better
But there are also problems
  1. What you think is a receiver, at least on the .22, is actually a Zamak piece covering the real receiver, which is to put it nicely very modern. It does give a "put a bodykit on a 10/22" feel to it
  2. As soon as you go to the centerfire line they get pricey very quickly
  3. The loading from the tube is annoying but I think is historically accurate.

I stripped the wood on my h001, when it was done the two pieces looked completely different. I call Henry asking for a new set, I was willing to pay for them because it was my fault. I talked to two different CS reps, they wouldn't help me, couldnt even buy a set.
The next day I emailed the president of the company. Within a weeks time I had new furniture, a hat and coffee mug, free of charge. Can't beat that with a stick :)
