Hi Pete,

I'm the guy that did the 360 in the Rossi. I suggest DON'T DO IT!!!

By the time you get the gun to feed the longer cartridge, with anything but a fairly pointed bullet shape, the cartridge guides will have to be cut back so much that it will start flipping rounds out the top while cycling. Mine will feed about half the time and the other half you have to "double clutch" it, or use your finger to flip the round back into forward position. And it does it with 38s and 357s too.

The 150 to 200 FPS that you gain is not worth the trouble. Maybe the marlin that guy did worked out better but the rossi just does not have enough length inside to work right. If you really NEED more power, get a 44. I did this to my gun because I love to tinker with everything I own. And I have a sizable pile of stuff, that didn't work!

RD. I never did get new cartridge guides for this gun, back when I asked about it last time. Do you think it's worth the trouble to try and order some now with the way rossi is about replacement parts?

OK Don. I looked at getting a .44 but thought I may be able to get a bit more grunt with less outlay. It's been an interesting exercise and appreciate all the input. I had a Marlin 30/30 for pigs but was not happy with the micro groove rifling as I couldn't get my cast bullits to stabilize. I'll keep my eye out for a used Rossi .44 as the importer here doesn't carry them anymore.

Pete,

Since your a reloader, don't pass up a 45 Colt. It will do anything that the 44 can do and sometimes more. And they seem to be more plentiful than the 44s, I guess cause most people want a MAGNUM behind the caliber.
