Breech to Muzzle Cleaning

Post by HarryAlonzo »

In search of a breech-to-muzzle pull-thru cleaning system, I just bought a Pro-Shot Products "Special Ops Series" Tactical Cleaning Kit. I didn't tell them it was for a Savage 99, or they probably wouldn't have sold it to me. It's the first and only pull-thru system that I've found that includes a jag (Patent Pending). I heartily recommend it. Only trouble is, they don't offer a .44 jag. I inquired, and they told me it was an uncommon caliber. I'm fixing' to buy a .45 and turn it down for the .44 Mag Rossi. They do offer a .38/.357 for those of you who enjoy such things.

That looks like a solid set.

I went the Patchworm Way, to get a kit, that covers any caliber, that I have, including my Rossi .44 Mag.

They misshipped a wrong size of patches, and sent me the correct size, at no extra charge, not even a charge, for expensive international shipping.
And I even got to keep the wrong size.

Very cool, thanks! Still, I feel like a second class citizen. Patchworm doesn't provide a .44 "caliber specific" jag, either. Those jump from .40 to .45. I guess the .41 - .45 jag works well enough?

The Jags on Patchworm are somewhat "multi Caliber"

The "orange" goes from .41"-45" you just use multible patches, for .44" and .45".

Instructions can be seen, on the box.

I've been using the Remington Swubs(?), little orange things that work really well. Just don't stand next to the muzzle in a good tee shirt when you pull it out, magnificent splatter pattern.

I really like the Super Intensive Felt Buttons but the 45 will not work in the 44. I've not tried the standard Felt Buttons. I've been meaning to request the SIFBs in 44 but have failed to do so. That's now done.

Received this back from patchworm:
patchworm wrote:Hi Michael,

We do have .44 plain felt buttons that are about to show up on our page, but no super-intensive as yet. I'll see what we can do about adding them.

Thanks for your suggestion, and regards --

Good deal, I will be ready for the standard felt buttons and get the S-I buttons if they come available.

They look very much, like the VFG Felt Buttons, like those from Brownells
Maybe they are compatible?
http://www.brownells.com/gun-cleaning-c ... 13839.aspx

They are available in plain, for .44 cal.

On the VFG Homepage, they list the Superintensive, in .44 cal.

A bit cheaper too but the 44 is out of stock at Brownells.
