H110 and 200g4 cast bullet

Post by Comanche Ken »

Hello all, I cant seem to rap my head around why a 200gr cast round nose and a 200gr JHP powder loads are so different. I want to load up my 44 mag with a 200 gr cast fn from Missouri bullet company to hunt pigs but cant find H110 load for it. The only load data I find is cowboy action charges. Hodges data for a 200gr JHP over a 28.5 charge of H110 sends the bullet down range @2100 FPS with a COL of 1600. However. they show no data for a cast bullet with this powder...has anyone combined this load with a cast bullet? I have loaded up my .357 lever with hot H 110 loads/158 cast bullets with no problem but haven't done so with the new 92 in 44.Mag.

I know the difference in loading jacketed vs cast has much to do with friction so thats why jacketed loads typically have higher pressures listed but RE H110 dont you just fill the case since it cant be downloaded?

H110 is really not intended for light bullets so you'll probably have a difficult time find loads for it with 200 cast. I use it in both the 357 and the 45 Colt with bullets that some might consider heavy for caliber. Behind 180 cast in the 357 and 325 cast in the Colt. I'll also be using with Hornady XTP hollow points in both cartridges.

H110 is a great powder but I have always stuck to published data from either Hodgdon or a bullet maker or the Lyman manuals. When they say don't go below published minimum loads, they have their reasons but it doesn't mean you can just fill the case up and stick a bullet in it. BE SAFE
