Re: .480 ruger
That last rifle sold on GB that I mentioned was stainless with the Hi-Viz sights like the rifle highlighted in the GunBlast article.

Re: .480 ruger
Hey folks, I just received a 92 in .480 Ruger that I won on Gunbroker last week. Short barrel, blued, iron sights front and rear, safety. Everything I've read supports what's already been stated here, that only 100 were produced. I started hunting for one about a year and a half ago. In that time, I've seen 4 come available on GB, and one on Armslist. Needless to say, disappointment followed losing the previous ones so when this one came available I moved as fast as I could to do a "Buy It Now" at $650. The seller said it was unfired. Not sure if it's true and I don't really care, because I had every intention of firing it. I had a chance to do so today. Love the gun. The action could be cleaned up a bit, so I'm on the waiting list at Steve's Gunz to get it worked on.

Re: .480 ruger
I don't think the price is "crazy high" .... how many .480 Ruger model 92's are there, 100 ?
I was going to say clone but I don't think it applies. I'm shocked that it hasn't sold yet.
Ranch Dog, you have one, correct? Would you mind sharing a picture, please ?

Not much to see really as a R92 is an R92. All five of my R92s are configured as the complete -002 scout rifles. It is the rifle in the back.
The 480 is exactly like the 454 Casull with the larger threaded magazine tube but the 480 barrel has very little taper and was not drilled and tapped for the base as the P892 base only fits the tapered barrel. I had mine D&T and a base machined for it. Mine also has had the proper saddle ring added as I like using the saddle ring sling when I hunt. Mine isn't for sale, but I would not consider anything less than $1500 to $1600 if it was.
If the GB seller had used the XS Ghost Ring sights and not done the mount work, I probably would consider it. The XS is a bit over $100 plus the drill and tapping. The Muleworks lever is worth a $150 and really needed to comfortably shoot this heavy recoiling rifle. If a fellow chased elk or moose inside 100 yards and liked the 92, the 480 Ruger fits well.

Re: .480 ruger
To each his own. The mods make it worth less to me. I don't want DT or rings, a scope, nor a big lever. I'm gonna find one for $500 and leave it stock.
