is Rossi still shipping leverguns?

Post by 1892 »

Is Rossi still making and shipping their leverguns to the USA? I looked on their website and noticed a limited selection, looked at bud's gun shop on line and they have very few models left.

The numbers available on GunBroker seem to be running what that have been for the last two years. About a hundred 92s at any given time.

I talked to a Rossi customer service person about a month ago and she said they were consoladating 2 plants into one and 92's would not be shipped to the US until October of this year.

Should be same time frame for Rios to be available too, which is too long to wait to make my next firearm purchase :(

Yes indeed.
I am already going through withdraws.
I was in sportsman's warehouse last month in lexington.
they had several marlins, all in 45, 44 mag and 45-70.
they were the CBs,20" octagon.
I handled the 45 CB and the 44 mag CB.
I looked them over real close, levered each one in all positions.
They had perfect wood to metal fit, smooth actions, etc.
couldnt believe it, they were well made and looked real nice.
I didnt buy anything, still a little nervous about buying any new marlins.
Bought the 45-70 guide gun back in 2015, it would only lever in the upright position, had to send it back twice.

Got a Marlin 45-70 last year. Seems ok but I haven't got it to the range yet.

Sportsmans Warehouse is not local to me but they sure have internet scams.

I wouldn't buy a Marlin or Rossi made after about 1991 for different reasons but same issues.

I can certainly understand being gun shy with the reports you see on the Marlins since they moved to Ilion. Both mine are JMs and they're fine firearms. That said from what I'm seeing at the local ranges the latest batch of Marlins (Remlins?) seem to be fine. Although some of my fellow shooter don't seem to understand that a hot loaded 400 grain in a six pound rifle can be a trifle uncomfortable off the bench.

It amazes me of late how many new shooters start with too much gun.

Marlins may be OK now but if you get one you're stuck with it due to reputation unless you take a big loss or it's a limited run, etc.

I purchased two rossis over the last few months and they were better quality then my last remlin I purchased back in 2015.
What Im worried about, is when rossi starts shipping there new rifles, there may be a price increase, somewhere around the remlin or henry prices.
I hope not, but Ive got a funny feeling about it.
