Model 92 dream

I have a model 92 in .357 magnum. It is a stainless model with round 16" barrel.

OK now, here's my dream: acquiring a more or less matched set in .357 magnum (already have), .44 magnum, and .454 Casull. Do any of you have a set like that, and if so how do you like it?

By the way, I also have a Henry lever action .22 youth model. It just happens to have almost the same exact dimensions as the Rossi model 92 with 16 inch barrel.

It seems to me that with those four guns you could hunt anything from tin cans to moose, or maybe even big bear, if range is not too long, though realistically speaking the larger end of that range is more of a theoretical dream than a practical likelyhood for me.

Any thoughts?

I've "collected" a 357 Mag, 44 Mag, and 45 Colt all in the "-002" configuration. Just a brace of rifles that I wanted to round up. That is the "scout" type rifles with the raised comb on the stock. I also have a "001" 357 Mag and the 480 Ruger. I do think these rifles are capable of just about everything the North America can offer, or at least the range of cartridges have proven it from handguns.

Rossi might have a giant crystal ball that really controls things. All I wanted was a R92 scout rifle chambered in 357 Mag, which was the last rifle I purchased, to replace my Marlin 1894C. I like the cartridge, the 357 Mag, but that little "C" is the same weight of the Marlin Guide Gun. Not very practical in my thinking of smaller cartridge equals lighter gun.

I digress, while waiting for a "56-002" (the scout rifle) to appear, Rossi starts marketing their Rio Grande 45-70. Same thinking, a rifle that delivers the punch of my 444P, 444T, 1895G, and 1895M but not so much the tank when lugging it around. Lucky for me that product was put in dealer's hand pretty quick and I bought the first I saw online. In the process of sitting around waiting for the 357 Scout rifle to make it to dealers, I bought a rack full of Rossi rifles. I think I'm done now.

Just like the Rio Grande made me question my Marlin big bores, the R92 has caused me to look at my Marlin 1994 rifles with a questioning eye. My "C" the 357 Mag, will probably be on my hit list. My "P" and "S", 44 Mag and 45 Colt guide gun styled carbines, are probably safe for now as they are a bit unique but I haven't shot either since my Rossi R92 scouts have arrived on the scene.

I have rifles and handguns in 357 and 44 mag. Have two 454 Rossi's and no real desire for 454 handgun. Most of my loads thru the 454's are hot 45 colt loads, and I do have 45 colt revolvers. That said, having the 454 available if wanted is nice, may have to keep an eye open for a revolver yet. Seems like ya just need matched pairs with these pistol cartridge chambered rifles. DP

I have 16 inch stainless trappers in 357 and 44 Magnum. Both have been tuned by Steve Young.
