Pictures as promised - SS .357 Model 92
Work done so far:
- sanded and fit all furniture edges that mate to SS - all sharp edges are gone.
- stained over original finish and rubbed in 6 coats of Tru Oil.
- installed Lee trigger spring, cleaned and lightly stoned action components.
- installed Marbles Bulls-eye Ghost Ring and taller fiber optic front sight.
Work remaining:
Need to correct vertical stringing of subsequent shots. I'll relieve and fit the mag tube, barrel bands and forearm.

I'm thinking my next lever will be a stainless 357.

Re: Pictures as promised - SS .357 Model 92
My rifle feels much better, in hand, with the wood being properly fitted and the grain sealed with Tru Oil. Note - less True Oil was needed to fill the wood grain, because I didn't strip the old finish and the walnut stain contained tung oil.
Those considering the Bullseye Ghost ring rear sight should strongly consider a Marbles front sight. I came to this conclusion trying to use my original Rossi front sight. The Marbles front and rear sight posts line up readily, whereas the the Bullseye and Rossi combo didn't. The wider Rossi front sight post made it difficult to get fast and precise sight alignment - IMHO. Oh, I very glad I went with the green fiber optic. It contrasts nicely against all backgrounds.

I like it, much nicer than the standard trigger. Most of my rifles are set to 3 - 3/12 lbs. The LEE trigger spring is closer to 2 lbs. It's not a hair trigger, but I'm careful and I left the Rossi safety installed.deadkelly wrote:g'day xshot . mate what do you think about the lee trigger spring ???

Good to have when you're cycle testing you new ammo (both factory and reloads) through the gun (the only way to do it) and when you're unloading your gun cause there is a fraction of a second where your cocked hammer over a live round.Xshot wrote:I left the Rossi safety installed.deadkelly wrote:g'day xshot . mate what do you think about the lee trigger spring ???
When you have a nice buck (or a charging bear!) in your sights is not a best time for a jam. I cycle test ALL my hunting ammo.
My 92s don't have the pig tail bolt safety and if I bought one with the safety installed I'd leave it there.
I don't think the bolt mounted pigtail is as conspicuous as the tang safeties on the new Miroku built "Winchester" 92s.
The newer 92/454s have the advantage of loading/unloading ammo through a slot in the bottom of the magazine tube.

Re: Pictures as promised - SS .357 Model 92
I took mine off and put them back on because I started using my 92s so much in really tough conditions as documented in other posts of the forum. I also rounded up some spare parts as I discovered that some of the components of the safety are not available as parts form BrazTech, mainly the springs. With my life here on the rancho, I could think of a hundred reasons why the safety made sense and none where it did not.Xshot wrote:I left the Rossi safety installed.
