First lever action! 92 SRC 357

Post by Quinc »

Its a little rusty but it should clean up nicely. It is the pre safety model and has a K0239## serial number. And on the rear tang it has 8670. Is there anyway to figure out how old it is? I will get up some pics tomorrow!

My 92/357 Mag is a 16"bbl pre-safety Amadeo Rossi M92 Serial: K1932##.
Looks like yours has been around a mite longer than mine.
It cleaned up real good with the dechlorinated auto parts cleaner and the polishing and stoning of machining burrs.
I was going to give it the SG tune-up but it didn't need it after the initial cleaning & polishing.
I learned early in life........if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Taking the trigger/hammer out was a pain. I had to use a punch to get the screw out. Any tips on putting her back together?

First thing I do when I get a new gun is strip it, clean it and oil it. Only thing keeping me from putting her back together is I can't get the paperclip out that I used to compress the spring.. Going to need another set of hands.

Shot her last weekend with 140gr zingers with 5g of bullseye behind them. Pretty darn accurate at 25yards. I also shot some 148gr DEWC bullets in .38. They shot about a 6 inches higher then the 140 zingers and I wasn't able to get them to load properly from the tube. I think that is because they sit almost flush with the case mouth. I will get some more info and pics this weekend when I take her back out! :D

Greetings
On the WC's try seating them out to the first grease groove. That is how I shoot WC's in my 45 Colts. They may still need a little "tickle" or double shuck off & on.

Congrats and that should be a lot of fun - these '92s are just sweet and my favorite.
