Speedloaders

Post by Chiefeis »

I've read where some guys are modifying their CJ stocks to use speed loaders. Before I went and did anything drastic, I looked at the various speedloaders out there.

All had one drawback for me - they were too bulky to comfortably carry. So I got a couple Tuff speedstrips to try out. Got to say I like them.

Clearly not as fast as as a speedloader, but faster than a dump bag and easier to carry than either loose rounds or speedloaders. Need to do more practice with them, but I think they will work great.

Now if it will just warm up a little so we can hit the range again...

I too prefer speed strips for my revolvers for that small amount of backup ammo. Lord knows I'm not gonna be able to handle and combat speed reloading anyway, and I just don't want the hassle of packing them honking big speed loaders.

I use the speed strips too. Better than loose or anything else I've tried.

The strips are great for carrying extra ammo for CCW. Small, light and handy. With a little practice, you can do pretty fast reloads with them, with no worry about fumbling and dropping rounds.
At my age, there IS nothing better than shooting.

Update on this - after using the speed strips for a while, not really liking them. They just don't hold the rounds very securely. So I just got an HKS speedloader. Once I modify the stock I'll post pictures.

Tuff strips are available in several calibers.
Seems to hold pretty well.
