New Rifle, stock stain is getting on to my hand

Post by retAFShooter »

What do you do when you have a new rifle and the stain/finish is rubbing off onto my hands. I know today was a hot day and my hands might have been a little sweaty, but should it do that? It is a Rossi Circuit Judge 44 mag. Should I put something on the stock? Some suggested calling Rossi.

The finish Rossi uses is really just a cheap stain of some kind most here compare it to a shoe polish. If you seal it with somthing Birchwood Casey try oil looks great. From by tung or teak oil mixes have a varnish sealer mixed in I have used these alot. You will be amazed how great the wood looks with some work.

Yeap. Rossi doesn't apply any sealer to their water based stain.

Someone had the answer to that in a post but for the live of me, I cannot find it. I want to say it was Brazilian mahogany.
