My understanding is he was there in spirit. He helped with the list of questions, but I should let him speak to that fact. Now we wait to see what changes are taken and if it opens up the access to basic parts.

I got a good laugh when I learned I had voided the warranty by [Polishing and or modifying ANY INTERNAL PART will also void the warranty].

I would do it again to make the firearm function the way I think it should...... I have never had much use for warranties anyways....... If I screw it up I will just buy another one.... :lol:

And that would solve the spare parts problem as well..........at least for that gun.

Warranties are just part of the BS sales pitch to give the prospective buyer a false sense of security and protection.
Most of them are written by lawyers (yup....the same ones that like to safety-up our guns :twisted: ) with escape clauses ("loopholes" in lay-jargon) big enough to drive an 18-wheeler through.

Since you have the latest info on contacting Rossi or Taurus Customer Service, What is the secret trick to getting through to them. I have tried several different phone numbers posted for them, have noticed that regardless of what # I dial I get the same recording and menu, and that regardless of what option button I hit, No one ever, ever answers. I have held for as long as 15 minutes with no answer - thank God for speaker phones. I have also called at different times on different days, figuring that maybe I was calling at a bad time. Seems any time is a bad time. I have been trying to get some answers to two very simple questions, but can't make contact. Again what is the trick??

Maybe, perhaps with your expertise, which appears from your writings to be very good and professional, you could give me some insight. I have five different Rossi-Taurus firearms. The one I am trying to get info on is my older Model 85 which I call my 6-1 shooter. I am trying to find out when my M-85 was produced. The on-line serial number tracker does not work and says call Customer Service for info who isn't there. I would like to get the date of manufacture based on the S/N, so I can establish if my older M-85 is +P rated. All the newer 38 Spl. M-85's are rated +P, so I was wondering if the manufacturing system might have changed somewhere in the recent past, thus making for a stronger gun or they found out at a later date through testing that the M-85 is really capable of using the +P round. Basically, I would like to know if my M-85 is in reality +P rated.

Thanks for any information you might be able to share as the Rossi-Taurus Customer Service System is definitely broken and useless.

Real customer service with an honest intention to professionally rectify customer complaints & concerns is passe. That bunch of minimum wage klueless kids equipped with hammers, hacksaws and dremels at Braztech/Rossi CS is NOT real customer service. :twisted:

The prevalent attitude toward customers is the same "bums rush" attitude RD got from Kresser to his letter which was essentially: "Thanks for your business, we got your money, now go away and don't bother us".

It's the type of arrogance normally associated with a monopoly market. For relatively cheap 92 clones (< $500) Rossi is just about the only show in town and they know it. Deal with Rossi or go pay 3 to 4 times as much for a Browning or a Miroku Winchester or 6 times as much for a Turnbull.

Marlin is apparently getting back on its feet after 4 years in the post-takeover "Remlin" wilderness and might give Rossi some competition and possibly they (Rossi) will get knocked off their high horse and start talking to customers and treating them with respect.

Competition is great for customers.

I have no interest whatsoever in the new Braztech leverguns so as far as I'm concerned Rossi can go fly a kite. Pre-Taurus Rossis and pre-64 Winchesters.........that's where it's at for pricedo. :mrgreen:

Judging from what I saw perusing gun shops and talking to friends who have made recent purchases the old American icon company Marlin is the only company making leverguns that seems to have a honest interest in improving their products & image. The new Marlin leverguns are a lot better than the guns that were coming off the assembly lines at the Ilion, New York factory 2 years ago.

I normally call them on Tuesday through Thursday, mid-morning their time. If I'm told that I'm more than five or six in the lineup, I hang up and call back. Generally, I've had very little difficulty getting them at these times. I use the 305-624-1115

Yeah, If the serial number search does not return any results the only way to find out is to contact them. I looked via google but could not find anything definite.

That was a good report from the taurusarmed guys. The problems Taurus/Rossi is experiencing sounds a lot like the supply chain issues for which I was an advisory board member in a past life.

When you sit across the table from folks like that there is usually a more plausible reason behind their troubles than the claims of arrogance and indifference.

During that past life we finally resorted to ordering direct from the processor, cases of fine salted in the shell South Carolina peanuts. A few bags a week ($5 investment) to the warehouse picking and packing crew improved accuracy and speed immensely. When the distribution manager caught on he first suggested we were bribing his staff. On the contrary we countered. We proved his staff's productivity and QC could in fact be improved upon from his standards. That manager then took a more hands on, positive approach to his work. And he started buying the peanuts to reward his own staff.

Honest dialog and efforts bring desired results.

OK !.......let's get those bags of "salties" to the right guys and get those Rossi rifle parts moving.
Imagine me thinking that this might be a complicated, drawn out issue. ;)
The truism that you gotta have nuts to deal with tough situations takes on a whole new meaning. :mrgreen: :lol:

I have no doubt that badge851 took the concerns of those of us here on the Rossi Rifleman directly to Mr. Kressner. Personally, I'm expecting a change in the way replacement parts are handled
