Rossi/Taurus 62 LA !!! Scored today!!

Went to the local gun show and scored a Holy Grail gun of mine today! The price was right and I took it home. Spent about two hours cleaning it up and getting it in proper condition to try out. It had lots of gunk and original cosmolene grease inside. The fellow had never cleaned it that I could tell.

Any way I got it right and went outback to try it out at 25 yards and then at 75 yards. After getting the sights close at 25 and then fine tuning them at 75 I then shot a single 14 shot group as quickly as I could load and fire. It measured a nice round 1.5"! With Old Winchester Wildcat loads! I then shot a load of 15 Federal Match rounds which printed a sweet 1.2" group! So for 50 year old eyes on open sights I am quite pleased.

This one is going to be with me for a while ai think!

It is a rare one, made in 2005-2006 only. And most were the blued model. This is the first Stainless one I have seen for sale. Blue Book of Gun Values says that there were Rossi made ones in 2003-2004 sold, but if they were there were very few of them ever sold in the USA. I handled a prototype made in 1985 or so that was in possession of a large gun distributer for evaluation and testing. But the internal works were considerably different. That prototype could load feed and shoot Short , long, or Long Rifle rounds. These newer ones can't do anything other than LR. and that is kind of a bummer but I love this one enough to keep it even if it's not the gun it ought to be.

I dunno, I have several .22s, and never once shot anything but a LR. I wouldn't count that against it. Very nice find!
