anyone like scoped .357 Blackhawks?

21 Jun 2018 05

Oh man....I've been finding all sorts of ways to distract myself from the shoulder surgery, but my most effective one is flipping through all my "wishlists" searches on GunBroker.

And wouldn't you know, I've been charmed by the idea of a '72 vintage .357 scoped Ruger that just seems so darn cool - always thought Blackhawks were a Ruger model I would buy one day. Just hasn't happened yet!

Here's the gun I'm talking about. https://www.gunbroker.com/item/771505697

What a cool handgun!

Anyway, I thought I'd share. By the way, I am already past the period of my post-op where they highlight the discharge instructions about "not making any important family or financial decisions" so I think I might bid....

I don't like the look of scoped handguns. If I were to get one that blackhawk looks better than a desert eagle with a scope on it. +guns

what about Road Warrior - the Humongous with his cased, scoped revolver? He got a hit or two on that wacky helicopter machine IIRC!

I can help you buy a Blackhawk and that ain't it. Drilling a three screw is about like drilling a waffle top. Plus it's been safety converted. It's a $200 gun IMO. Times have changed a lot. I got my .357 Ruger right before SHTF pricing hit so I gave $300. It's not a three screw but it was at least made in the '70's. I've spent a little money and a lot of time on it so it's mine forever I guess. The Bisley hammer conversion was the most work but I have another unmodified Bisley hammer held back for the future. I did as much action work as I can do on a new model and put a steel ERH on it too. Oh, and I refinished the grips to match my R92 and put Texas star medallions on it but that project is documented somewhere here or the other RD forum.

Thanks for sharing your input, Gas. Your analogy about drilling for scope mounts is fully understood! My 1950 336A wouldn't be the same if it had those holes....

main thing - you've got a nice Ruger there, my brother! +guns So now I know someone else with the Blackhawk knowledge. Good to know!

Guess you are a speed demon on the interwebs, MT! That's a S&W or a Dan Wesson 44...right?

I think it is the S&W Model 29.
Clint Eastwood would be proud.
