There was also a Guns and Ammo article on a Marlin .45 ACP lever gun but I never ever saw one in the wild.

That 9mm carbine matched up with a good 9mm pistol would be a good combo to have for any situtation.
I have been reading Elmer Keith, couple of his books, either six guns or another, I should have marked the page, but I will try to go back and find it.
Anyway, Elmer talks about a mountain man that lived around him, back in the early 1900s.
The mountain man lived up in those mountains,Montana/Idaho area, and hunted and killed all game, including Grizz.
Elmer said the old man carried a 30 luger with a detachable stock, he would get in close and take head shots on everything.
Not the first choice for hunting, but it can be done if need be, in an emergency.
I believe 9mm out performs the old 30 luger, so it would be a viable option to have a 9mm carbine.
That old mountain man new his firearm, and was extremely accurate with it.

Im reminded of tales of taking whitetail with a .22 -- possible for the very patient and highly skilled but i know i prefer some wiggle room

In anycase as a slightly off topic aside i found this option for your 1911 PCC http://mechtechsys.com/1911-carbine-conversion/
And since im a certain type of person i would also use this http://woodforar.com/walnut-carbine-grade-a/ talk about wood furniture :) pricey sure, but still fun to look at

That's pretty neat. It has evil black rifle written all over it :)

Love the Walnut furniture, I just added a set to my list. Thank you.
