I've got a PSA pistol kit and a psa lower coming.

I think I'm going to try a pistol build now.

It all starts with a stripped lower.....

Well the ones i have tried are 'stupid' fun. With a red dot, pretty easy to ding a 10" gong at 100 yds. and easy peezy on shook up sams soda cans at closer distances.

Guess they would be useful in a hallway, as a practical aspect.

I'm doubtful of practical application of most pistol ar15. The reason being the muzzle blast from inside the house with any gun is magnified or trapped unable to escape and go away like outside. It is so load outside with this gun of mine short barrel that I couldn't imagine shooting it inside. It would be like a flashbang disorienting and leaving you vulnerable. I think if I wanted an ar pistil for inside defense I would build one in 10mm or 45 acp maybe even a .40SW. everyone tolerance is different on FBF flash bang fatigue Its what I call it lol. I'm not so tolerant. All I know is the shockwave from the short barrel in 5.56 is enough to wake the neighborhood at the gun range. I shot mine at night and flash blindness is huge problem to. To me my ar pistol is a range toy and possible outdoor use within reason.

Good points, AK. I wonder how soldiers cope with the noise and concussion of its M4 and M4A1's with 14.5" and 11.5" barrels in combat. These are not markedly different than the AR pistol set up, except fo adding a butt stock. We may have some deaf veterans.

Flash cans may help to at least direct the noise and concussion away from the shooter.

300BLK is way different than 5.56 out of an 8-10" barrel.

Very true 300 may be a very good cartridge for home defense as well. Especially if you use a low flash powder to preserve night sight.

I think my next build will be a pistol is 300BLK. It'll be my third 300 build of which I've yet to keep one or even fire a shot. One went to a friend and at least I shot it after he bought it from me.

I've always wondered why pistol with a 5.56 or even .308 although I've got a buddy who built a .308 AR 'handgun' as a hunting platform.

I think .300 blackout is an interesting round but haven't gone there yet. I think most of my builds won't cross chamber in a way that'd be catastrophic although I figure .243 might chamber and fire in .308 it'd probably just piff and I'm not confusing that heavy barreled .243 sucker with the .308s as is and might even cerakote it to help keep it unique and stand out.

I won't be building a AR pistol in CA with their crazy laws but I've picked up some more parts over the holiday. Got my adjustable gas block for the .243. Might start a 3rd 6.5 Grendel build.

300BLK pistol is done. Now to find a load. I'll probably post a topic on Lee-Loader.

I've used a few PSA complete uppers, I also built a PA-10 gen 1 from just the lower. They have some really nice stuff. Good prices on BCGs
If you think you might want to do an 80% build, I'd recommend the 80% Arms jig. A drill press and router is all you need, you can do it with a hand drill motor.

Between myself and nephews, I'd bet we did about 10 lowers (mostly forged) with the one jig. I found a full size router works better than the trim routers they suggest.
