Re: Revisting Rem 660, Win 308
Well Charlie made it home today (yeah...my wife and I named the 660, don't ask) so I can now go back to loading for it. I had read that they would be cutting into the stock to make the new trigger/ safety replacement fit, but not so, good job Remington!NavyDoc76-80 wrote:Well, the 660 made it to Remington today, hoilday slowed that progress, so i get to experience for the first time this kind of customer service.

So how is the new trigger. Mine needs the new trigger even though the original works fine.NavyDoc76-80 wrote:Well Charlie made it home today (yeah...my wife and I named the 660, don't ask) so I can now go back to loading for it. Also I gave up on a regular mounted scope. It's to hard to load. No room to push bullets straight down. When I try and slide them in they get stuck after the first one.

Re: Revisting Rem 660, Win 308
Dennis,
Trigger has zero creep/ slop. Don't believe it did before either. When I can I'll measure the pull, but I am happy with it as is. The replacement did one thing, and that is to allow live rounds to be unloaded with the safety engaged. Otherwise you would have to drop the trigger guard. I like the added safety measure that provides.
As far as scoping it, I've bought two different mounts. A one piece mount and a two piece mount. The scope I want to try is currently mounted on a 243. I have since found 200 rounds I had tucked away and thought I would use them up before I give my reloads a try. Weather is turning real nice here, almost spring like, perfect time for some range time. I'll let ya know my experiences when I do.

Re: Revisting Rem 660, Win 308
Thanks for info on trigger. I'll send mine out soon.
I've tried both one and two piece mounts. The 2 piece was better but loading was still a pain. On mine it seems you have to push straight down to load easy , pushing in and down is harder and they just get stuck and I have to wiggle them around, You can do it but fast reloading is really hard. For hunting it wouldn't matter but for just target practice it is a little annoying. A rear mounted scope is really nice on it though for fast aiming. And a good field of view.

Re: Revisting Rem 660, Win 308
I'll keep this short as there is not much to share as I did not use handloads, and the rounds fired were in a MTM box with no labeling. Only fired a few rounds to compare recoil, velocity and accuracy to the 45colt we were also testing. Recoil was mild compared to the 45, a string I recored did this: 2558,2615,2595,2600,2840. Not sure about that last one. This is a really a fine rifle.
