Revisting Rem 660, Win 308

After considering selling my Sako, which i just cant do, i pulled the old Remington 660 in win 308 out of the safe and thought i would go down a new road of reloading this round for something different. Ive never reloaded bottle neck case's before so this will give me something truly new to ponder. I have the dies needed. Powder will be easy to find locally, so today the journey begins. I have an ammo can full of military 7.62, so given its integrity, i should never need to find brass. Going to play with 110gr bullets to start off with. Even in that light of a bullet it is a decent varmit killing round. Ive done my homework on loading this and dont see any problems. I know the 660 had a short production run, not that many out there, but in the chance you do, id welcome your stories.

Working on my 600 chambered in 35 Remington. I'm putting a Redfield Jr. Scout mount on it but I'm waiting for aas set of Redfield Jr. Medium rings to arrive. I have the low and they were low, slightly, for the Weaver K4 Classic Scout eye bell. I want to hunt with this rifle this year.

From what i have read, the 600 is the sister to this 660. This one never got the safety trigger job done. I need to call Remington and see what they say about honoring the recall/repair. Im hesitant to send it regardless but ill see. I need to pull out the scope and see how it sits.
From the day i put my hands on an M14, i have always liked/ respected this round for what it can do.
I know if there aint a pic, it aint true ill download some pics tomorrow. I worked on the brass today. I had lent out my primer swags awhile back, the fellow i lent them too conveniently forgot about that. Be a week before i see them so that will give time to find some powder & primers. Glad there are others here interested in this round/rifle.

As you can see, with a twenty inch barrel it's a carbine length. It does not show much use but previous owner was pretty rough with it just the same. Was trying to show in the close up pics the Rem 660 stamp and the 308 stamping as well.
Small storm came through last night and the temps have dropped 15 degrees, my kind of weather to be sitting in the bush.

Have to agree Max, looking forward to shouldering this with some home grown reloads.
